Snowshoe #14--Extreme Sledding

April 8, 2011

So--I missed another snowshoe trip to Doughnut Falls before this one because I totally forgot my camera. Snowshoe Trip #13 was a trip to Doughnut Falls with my roommate Mindy. She was set up on a blind date with some guy who was going snowshoeing with a group--so of course I was invited because I LOVE SNOWSHOEING! But--anyway--we went to Doughnut Falls and there I met these extreme sledders--Will and Nick. I became friends with Will that day--and we decided to try snowshoeing again.

So...we ended up going snowshoeing with my friend Shannee and his friend Nick. They brought their sleds and we went up to Doughnut Falls again. Nick and Will talked us into sledding--and since Shannee was so tough, I decided I better be too! So--we played along.
Little did I know that I would get the most air on a jump for a girl that Will had ever seen happen. Nor did I realize I would get extreme whiplash from that attempt...Will got video of it. I may have to add it later.

And little did I realize I would crash into a pine tree and get stuck in the tree well. Part of me gets a little scared from the rush of going down the hill and my instinct is to close my eyes. But--I am pretty sure I had them open this time...but all I could see was the fresh powder. Fortunately, will caught all that on video too...
After both of my terrible attempts, I still managed to hike to the falls and even made it to the top--head injury and all. Although by the end of the night, I was pretty loopy. It was an adventure none the less...worthy of going on my adventures blog!

Here's some of the photos I did get:
The little tree that Nick took out on his first attempt down the big hill

The stream

Will building steps to go down into the falls--which Shannee and I decided not to do since we'd had such an accident prone night with me...

The doughnut

Shannee and me by the doughnut--you can see my lovely scratch on my cheek from the tree! Thank goodness for frankincense oil--took it all away!

My bruise on my thigh that I have no idea where it came from...

Fortunately, I didn't get hurt worse! I kept thinking the whole rest of the night there must be a guardian angel out there who loves me enough to not let me get hurt badly--and I kept feeling like there must be more for me to do in this life. Luckily we were all able to laugh about it later. And I made some new good friends out of the experience! SO--in all--a win situation. Worthy of blogging. Maybe some video footage will follow...if I can talk Will into getting it to me.

Photo of the Week

Saturday--April 30, 2011

I haven't done a photo of the week forever. But on Saturday, my cousin Amanda and her kids Penny and Owen and I went to see the tulip festival. And I got some great shots!

S0--here's one to prep you for the amazing photos that are to come!

I almost feel like it should be one of those 1000 piece puzzles...

The Color Festival

March 26, 2011
My friends decided that today we would go to the Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork to participate in the Holi Festival of Colors. I had never been before, so it was an interesting experience. They celebrate by throwing colored chalk on one another. I still haven't figured out the exact religious purposes of what they were doing, but it was indeed an interesting thing to witness.

As you can see from our photos--we got covered in chalk! I think I felt the stuff in my lungs for a few days after. I had a good time with Anthony, Roque, and Adam. What great friends I have!

Snowshoe #12--Guardsmen Pass

March 12, 2011
I went snowshoeing with my friend Devin's Hillary Snowshoe Group today--and it was Devin and Dave. They decided since we had such new snow that they would bring the sled along and we'd do some sledding down the hill--very thoughtful of them because they book it up mountains faster than I can. I just like to go and have fun though. We spent a while digging a trail and then we sledded. It was a great time!

The Ice Castles

February 26, 2011

My friend Shannee and I decided to go up to Heber with some of my friends to see the ice castles. And they were amazing!

We found the man who designed them all. We had to get a picture with him!

The ice castles were an amazing experience. It is now on my list of winter must dos!

I'm a little behind...

May 1, 2011

So--I am way behind in my blogging--I totally missed the whole month of March and April! So--I'll try to play a little catch up today!
