The Hill Air Force Air Show

June 7, 2009

I love air shows! I was able to convince Henry, Anthony, and Johnny to go with me to Hill to watch the air planes! We had a great time watching them--and we made it just in time for my mustang!

Here's some photos from the fun day!

Me with my lunch!

A few planes--the KC 130, a couple others, and the F-22

Me with an A-10 (I think) from Idaho!

Me with my mustang!

Every air show I've been to (all 4 of them) has had one of these!

This was Anthony's first show. He was sad to leave before the Thunderbirds...
J/k...really it was on our way home and he was pretty much asleep--he woke right as it took the picture...but I thought the first story was better. It really was his first air show!

Thanks guys or sharing this day with me! It was fun!

1st Camping Trip of '09

Friday, June 5, 2009

Linda, Eric, and I went on my first camping trip of the year. We decided spontaneously to go up to Butterfield Canyon by my new house and go camping. We grabbed Eric's 2 man tent, some sleeping bags, an ax, some pots and pans, and some snacks and we headed out.

We had a blast! It was so relaxing and fun. And all three of us in the tent kept the heat in and we were warm. I think that was the best I've ever slept camping in my life!

Thanks Eric and Linda for a fun evening!

I went with some friends to the Oquirh Mountain Temple Open House. It is beautiful! It is definitely a contrast from the Draper Temple, but it is still beautiful.

The Ultimate Frisbee Tournament

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Our team reunited to play frisbee. Last year, our team took 2nd out of 20 teams. This year, there were 6 teams at the tournament. We took 5th. The teams became really good apparently. And we had a lot of new players. But--we had a great time because it's frisbee and we love it!

Here's the team!

Ghost Towning!

Monday, May 25, 2009

On Memorial Day, Eric and I went with a couple other friends ghost towning. I have been to Ophir a few times, but never thought it was a ghost town. But--in Eric's book of ghost towns in Utah...it is listed! So--now I have a ghost town hunting friend. How fun!

Here's some pics from our trip to Ophir:

Some of the old mining stuff

Some of the tracks for the mine

Eric took this picture of himself...pretty good! This is an old mining cave...

An old mining tool. A tree had grown around it.

An old prospector mining hole.

Allison and I--I have no idea what we are doing. I just think it's a funny pic!

We have so many more pictures. But--these were some of my favorites! I'll have to slide show the rest!

Where Flowers Bloom, So Does Hope

I went with my friend Eni today to Music and the Spoken Word. She had never been before, and me being who I am--have been a ton! But I haven't been for about a year, so I told Eni we would go today. I am so glad I did! I love this broadcast!

Today's themed message was an inspirational one too--one I needed to hear! Here's an excerpt from Lloyd Newell's thought today:

"Lady Bird Johnson, wife of former U.S. President Lydon B. Johnson, is often remembered for her love of flowers. Roadsides across the country are beautiful today because of her efforts to plant wildflowers along highways. Mrs. Johnson liked to say, 'Where flowers bloom, so does hope.'

If something as delicate and beautiful as a flower can grow out of the hard cold soil, then what else might be possible? We all need the hope that flowers embody. Flowers help us remember the unseen potential in ourselves, in those we love, and in the world around us. Indeed, where flowers bloom, so does hope."

Enjoy the flowers! Don't lose hope!

Life Lesson #2

May 20, 2009

Things I don't want to do as a mom or a step mom...

This week I have bike duty--meaning I stand outside and yell at the kids that are riding their bikes or scooters and tell them to get off. It's a liability thing--so I get to do it in the morning and the afternoon...

Well, this afternoon, there was a 3rd grade child outside. It was his birthday apparently. A little info on this tells me he has two moms--real mom and step mom. They are in competition to try and win boy's love. Anyway--both mom's brought treats to school today--but one mom brought this huge balloon bouquet! It had a couple of Mylar balloons on it and about 15 helium filled balloons. Boy is walking out after school with his balloons to get on scooter to ride home. I sensed disaster immediately. I commented to little boy that the balloons might carry him and his scooter away...

A few minutes later--he is down the sidewalk...screaming. Literally throwing a tantrum. He had lost hold of his balloons....he later was in the office having a fit about it as well...

Note to self--do not buy child birthday balloon bouquet unless I plan to be there to pick him up as well...

Poor birthday for that guy...
