Nauvoo, Part 2

July 6, 2011

We started out early this morning going out to see Carthage Jail. I love Carthage Jail--and the feelings that are there. It makes my testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith and the restoration so much stronger.

After going to Carthage, we went back into Nauvoo to play. We wandered through the Community of Christ Church's sites that belonged to the prophet Joseph Smith.
The Bidamon Stable

The Nauvoo House

The Homestead

The well at the Homestead

The Mansion House
The Red Brick Store

Then we went to the LDS Sites:
The cute elder at the blacksmith shop

The view from the blacksmith shop

Me in the Shoeing Stock
The Seventies Hall

We found great great great grandpa Zebedee Coltrin's name on the seventies list

My favorite statue at the relief society gardens

Missy spinning the wheel to make our rope

Our rope we made

The original dance floor in the Cultural Hall

The Bakery

After that, we went and found the property our Grandpa Zebedee owned that we learned about at the lands and titles building. We think it was in this area.

We also saw Brigham Young's home. There were some plates that were recovered there that they had had someone rebuild. It goes to show that with some effort and work--it can almost look like new.

These were the plates they reconstructed from the broken pieces

That evening, we also decided to take some pictures of the temple. It is beautiful in the sunset.
