The Ward Camping Trip

Before I left the Riverview 7th Ward, our ward had a service/camping trip up in the mountains East of Park City. Our job was to clean up the trees and make the camp ground look more presentable. It was in May--and the outdoors were absolutely crazy!

Bro. McSweeny, Allison, and Michelle and I went early to set up. We got to our site and we were amazed at how much snow was still there! Allison and Michelle got to work on putting the food away and getting dinner started--while somehow I got assigned the job of building the fire and setting up camp. Good thing I had 2 years of Girls Camp Director under my belt!!!

That night ended up just as exciting as the set up as a few more of our ward members showed up. We watched an outdoor movie, ate dinner (which was delicious! I need the recipe from Bro. McSweeny!) and we went to bed--us girls in a trailer so we were warm! Through the night we had our fun--especially at 4 am...

The next day--we went on a small hike with Bro. McSweeny and he took us fishing! I caught my first fish ever outside of a trout pond! He taught us all about baiting the hook and casting it in. I still can't get myself to touch those worms--ick! Since we were out without permits and just practicing--we did some catch and release. I think we may have caught the same fish a couple times...poor guy. But--now I can say I have caught a fish!

The 7th ward is going back in September. I told them I am coming--I don't want to miss out!
